A/R Planes® Testimonials
" We have them on two boats. One boat is a 19 foot Spectra with a Merc 2.4 offshore. We removed a ‘torque tab’ and replaced it with A/R Planes – steering torque is less and I can run 5 to 7mph faster in rough water because the boat is more predictable. It also stopped the boat from cavitating in turns. Our other boat is a 22ft ‘Wellscraft’ (that’s not a typo – it’s a purpose built ski race boat by former water ski race champion Marty Wells) with a Mercruiser 454 MPI - the A/R Planes make that boat more stable in rough water with fewer left side landings and with the planes our speed increased 1.5 mph on radar"- Carl Goldsmith(Carl is the 1999 Catalina Ski Race Winner! – He and his dad practice "rough water" speed skiing twice a week in the Catalina channel and at the Colorado River.)
"I put a set of A/R Planes on my 99 26ft Laveycraft with a 525SC and immediately noticed a huge improvement in the trim response both getting on a plane and the tendency to left chine in chop and rough water. I don’t even use my K-planes anymore."- Rick White(Rick is an avid boater who’s owned several boats and has water skied in the Catalina Ski Race too.)
"I have a 1981 Donzi 22 Classic Criterion. It has a dyno tested Pro-Charger equipped Big Block putting out 698 Horsepower at 5800 RPM. Before I installed the planes, my boat was almost uncontrollable above 60 MPH. It had a serious list and when I let off the throttle in a panic situation, it would dart to the right. I simply didn't want to be going any faster in that boat. Once I installed the A/R Planes the improvement was obvious. I got a GPS reading of 75 MPH and felt very comfortable with how well it handles. These things completely changed the way my boat feels."-Randy Carabelli
"My 97 22 ft Scarab with 7.4L always wanted to run with the port side low at anything less than about 50mph in the ocean. After we put a marine B&M Blower on it I had to countersteer left even with the Merc power steering. The A/R Planes stopped both problems and I gained 1mph on radar too. I’m sold – the planes are like a Visa Card for your boat – don’t leave the dock without them!"- Mark Harms(Mark has owned just about every kind of boat over the years and is currently restoring a 1980 SKV Ski Race Boat with a new twin turbo EFI 502).
"These things work! I know several Manufacturers who should make them original equipment to straighten out their hulls!"(An anonymous boating magazine tech editor after doing a before and after test on the Scarab above)
"I don’t have a High Performance Boat, so I was skeptical about what A/R Planes might do for my 18’ SCARAB with a 3.0L. But I must admit they took the torque steer away completely, and I can run wide open in wind chop without having to worry about flying out of the Boat. My partner enjoys the bigger wake while wake boarding as we can now plane at a lower speed! I like water skiing behind it as the wake tends to be more even on both sides since we added the planes. All in all the best money I’ve spent on my boat, since I bought it."- Jason Appleby
"I get a lot of looks with my boat. It’s a 12 foot Daytona Mini Sprint. I put a 75 HP Evinrude Outboard on it. I have ride plates on it, and it has a Bimini Top. Since we put the big engine on it, I couldn’t run it at more than 50 MPH (speedo) because it would porpoise really bad if I trimmed it any higher. We put a set of A/R Planes on it and since they would allow me to trim out more, I got it to run 54! The planes look very racy and fit in with the overall image of my boat. On just about any lake, that’s fast enough for me!"- Bill Camp
