about us

Our story

FASTMotorsports is actually an acronym.  F is for Father, A is for And, S is for Son, and T is for Team.  FAST was formed in 1997 for our racing team. We spent hours upon hours racing our Dragster at Brotherhood Raceway on Terminal Island in Los Angeles. We needed a name, and were interested in starting a business. Teck as my father is known, has been involved in the automobile industry for some 40 years now.  He began teaching High School Auto Tech, at West Covina High School. About 4 years later, he  and a partner Pete Dragus purchased an automotive repair shop in  West Covina ,CA. It was called Auto Tune.  In the late 1970's he quit working at Auto Tune and opened  a new business, called Propulsion Dynamics,  a turbocharged boat engine building facility in Walnut, CA.  In 1981, we moved to Kenai, AK when dad owned and operated a performance parts store dubbed "The Parts House".  In 1983 after moving back to Sunny Southern California, he started the automotive aftermarket industry's first Technical Support hotline Automotive Data Systems (ADS). ADS provided technical assistance to automotive repair shops across the nation. In fact some of the current staff are West Covina Auto Shop Alumni, including Dave Bellaver and Curt Moore.  In September 1996, that business was sold to Snapon Tool Corporation.

I am the oldest of the 2 sons of Teck and Jan Tecklenburg.  My brother Troy, can be found surfing Southern California's best breaks, as he is now a Pro Surfer. I  have worked since 1994 with my Dad at Automotive Data Systems. In October 2001, I accepted a position as an EFI technical support engineer at MoTeC USA. In that capacity I was one of top tuners in the USA for MoTeC fuel injection. I learned from the best at MoTeC and was allowed to extend my skill set tremendously in the 4 years I served in that position. 2006 marked the first season which I was completely on my own with my consulting company ST Consulting doing research and development and serving in the capacity of Crew Chief on World Racing's SCION TC Pro Front Wheel Drive. In my spare time I still like to play in my boats, crew chief on our FASTMotorsports Racing Team 57 Chevy Twin Turbo and do tuning and consulting for other teams and customers.

Our race cars

There are 2 dragsters below. The first one sported a mild steel chassis and a CR500 engine injected on Alcohol. This was Shanes welding project when he was 14. It eventually led to the design and development of the new dragster.  It was built by Leith (TECK) & Shane in 1994. The new chassis is 4130 Chrome-moly, and the body is AZ31B magnesium. Most of the brackets are made from Magnesium and are held on with Titanium bolts. The car weighs in at 485 lbs, without the driver and about 710 with. The Engine is a 1991 GSXR 1100 and uses stock everything except head gaskets. On the motor, the car has run as quick as 9.95 @ 126 MPH. You can see below how well it responded to a little Squeeze (Nitrous).
